About this neighbourhood

Old Strathcona is a mature and well-developed neighbourhood with stately buildings, stunning old mature trees, and lovely gardens all around. Old Strathcona is a perfect blend of incredible shopping, world class dining, and lively entertainment! Whyte Avenue, which is just blocks away, is a vibrant area with strong ties to art and theatre. There are dozens of eclectic shops and cafés creating and enhancing the area’s bohemian vibe.

A fun fact about the neighborhood is that Strathcona was once a separate city from Edmonton. The amalgamation occurred in 1912, and the city has been better for it ever since.

What's nearby:

St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, which hosts a monthly perogy dinner, and a cultural centre are directly across the street. Dentists and chiropractic offices are all within a block. Many churches surround the area and are easily accessible. There is a major bus route at the end of the block, which includes the #9 bus that can take you almost anywhere in the city. A new fairly new pizza joint, The Pink Gorilla Pizzeria, is across 109th street is unique and spectacular – a must-try when you’re in the area.
