About this neighbourhood
West Jasper Place is a mature, residential neighbourhood within the northwest of Edmonton. The area is notable for the bike trails in the adjacent MacKinnon Ravine, providing access to the River Valley Park System. While most of the neighbourhood is residential, there is some commercial development at the neighbourhood's north end with Jasper Gates Plaza and Stony Plain Road. This neighbourhood was originally part of the Town of Jasper Place, before being amalgamated with Edmonton in 1964.
According to the 2021 Federal Census, 16.0% of the population of West Jasper Place is aged 65 years and over. In comparison, the rate for this age demographic in Edmonton stands at 13.0% of the population.
The most common type of residence in West Jasper Place is low-rise apartment buildings. This residence type accounts for 58.6% of the structures, according to the 2021 Federal Census. 45.1% of private dwellings were constructed within the neighbourhood between 1961 and 1980.

With the busy Stony Plain Road and Jasper Gate Plaza shopping centre nearby and the Jasper Place Transit Centre a short drive away, West Jasper Place offers a convenient array of ETS bus routes, restaurants, grocery stores, medical clinics, pharmacies, services, and shopping. In addition, West Edmonton Mall and the Misericordia Hospital are only a ten-minute drive away.
This neighbourhood also contains a number of community centres near to the Apartments. These include the Orange Hub, which is a community centre for non-profit groups that offer programs and services in the arts, recreation, wellness, and learning, the West Jasper Sherwood Community League, which maintains a community hall, outdoor rink, and tennis courts, and Arthur Elliot Park. Another point of interest is the adjacent MacKinnon Ravine with its biking and walking trails providing access to the River Valley Park System.
The new Valley Line West LRT Transit Line is in development in the area.
