It is in a well-maintained area with large lots with an ethnically diverse population. Residents of the community take great pride in their neighbourhood.

A fun fact about the neighbourhood is that it was once built on a coal mine. It was incorporated as a village in 1913, became a town in 1914, and was amalgamated with the City of Edmonton in 1961.
