About GEF Virginia Park Lodge
Virginia Park Lodge is part of the Virginia Park complex, where the lodge contains 65 accessible and single lodge units. The lodge is located in the beautiful, quiet, mature area of Virginia Park, and has beautiful grounds and shaded sitting areas provided by its 280 trees (yes, we counted them!). The garden in the courtyard is there for residents to grow and maintain flowers and vegetables. As a barrier-free building, the well-lit hallways lead to sitting areas, multipurpose room, sunroom, and dining room.
Features and services available to residents (some by appointments only) include an ATM, in-unit emergency call system, foot care clinics, hearing-aid clinics, and hair salon. The large dining hall in the lodge has a dance floor and a piano for live entertainment. The sunroom is a place to gather with friends and watch some television. With an Activity and Wellness Coordinator on-site, there is always a fun program going on.Virginia Park Lodge Brochure

About this neighbourhood
Highlands is a small, centrally-located residential neighbourhood just northeast of Edmonton’s downtown, situated along the North Saskatchewan River Valley. The neighbourhood has a peaceful, calming feel. It is tucked away from the main roads, close to bike paths and walking paths. Due to the mature landscaping and a forest of beautiful trees, it is a perfect spot to take in the Edmonton scenery.
The property where the Virginia Park Lodge and Apartments now sit used to be a greenhouse!
Virginia Park is down the road from a grocery store, hair salon, nail salon, and the East Edmonton Health Centre. The lovely Borden Park is just to the north, complete with walking paths, formal flower garden, tennis courts, and a pool. As well, there is the Edmonton Urban Farm, Edmonton Expo Centre, Bellevue Community Centre, and additional restaurants and shopping just 6 blocks away. There is an ETS bus route that runs through the neighbourhood, and you are just minutes away from the Stadium LRT station, as well as the Yellowhead Trail and Wayne Gretzky Drive. In the wintertime, it is always a joy to experience the Christmas lights along Ada Boulevard.
Most errands accessible by walking.
