About GEF Canora Gardens

Canora Gardens is a newly renovated, clean, secure and friendly 98-unit building with well-lit hallways and contemporary, welcoming decor. The library is located on the second floor and tenants enjoy reading in the cozy, quiet area. On the main floor is the laundry room, with ample laundry facilities. The spacious lounge/party room on the first floor comes to life regularly as people gather for exercise classes, movies, bingo, puzzles, pool and music from the piano. There is also a kitchen area with a stove, fridge and storage space. Tenants can book this room to host events for family and friends. There is also a private dining room, which can be booked. The second-floor balcony is a favourite hot spot in the warmer months. A garden in the courtyard gives tenants the opportunity to grow and maintain their own flowers and vegetables.

About this neighbourhood

Canora is an older neighbourhood with many newer aspects. Beautiful mature trees overhang the streets. The streets and sidewalks have recently been upgraded, thanks to the city of Edmonton’s neighbourhood renewal program. There are many small parks, green spaces and walking paths throughout the community that make it feel safe and homey to the tenants that live there. There is a strong sense of community here.

What's nearby:

Canora is close to shopping that is within walking distance for the seniors. There is a No Frills across the street; Safeway, Dollar store, London Drugs, Starbucks, TD Bank and more are all very accessible. The LRT will soon be available to explore the city with; however, bus routes are conveniently located on Stony Plain Road, 107th Avenue, 149th Street and 156th Street.

In the summer, there are community events that bring everyone together. There is a daycare across the street and it’s always an exciting day when the children come for an intergenerational visit. Students from a nearby school also visit and participate in music and crafts with the tenants.
